Attendance and punctuality is vital to a child's ongoing education. Please ensure your child is punctual so they can make a good start to their learning, daily. Children should aim for 100% attendance across the entire academic year. Whilst we understand that sometimes children are ill, it is important that they do not miss more learning and experiences than is necessary for their overall development.

The Importance of Attending School
At St. Edward’s Catholic Primary School, it is our priority that all of our children fulfil their highest potential. To do this, it is essential that they attend school on a regular basis. The diagram below clearly demonstrates how, having just a few days off, can have a detrimental effect on learning.
Each week, the class with attendance over 97% will be celebrated and have the chance of receiving a class prize from our St Edward's monopoly board. Any class that receives 100% will be recognised and celebrated separately. Every half term, children with 100% will be recognised in our special ‘Attendance Assembly’ with a certificate and a 100% pencil and medal. Children really enjoy this recognition.
We are here to help!
If you or your child are having struggles getting into school every day, please come and speak with us. Ms Finnigan (Attendance Officer/FLO) and Mr Tickner (Attendance Lead/Lead DSL) will always available at the gate each morning and afternoon for a chat. We will do everything we can to ensure you feel supported in this important responsibility of getting your children to school every single day.

The school gate opens to children at 8:30 am and closes at 8.50am for registration. If you arrive after this time, the gate will be closed and you will need to bring your children to the office to get them registered.
If your child is unwell or has an appointment, please contact the school office on 01795 662708 to inform us of your child's absence. We operate a 'first day calling' system for pupils who are not in school. If a notification hasn't been received by the school office, Ms Finnigan will contact you during the morning. If your child has been absent for 3 days, a home visit will be completed.
If you have any further questions regarding absence, please do not hesitate to contact Ms Finnigan, Mr Tickner or, the school office.
